Agent Carter ends on a very emotional note in Valediction, the season finale, as Peggy has to help Howard Stark let go of his regrets and say goodbye to Captain America herself in the process. Leviathan’s plans are foiled for now, but new possibilities are left open for a possible return in season two.

Congratulations to Mike on being right about the battle and item 17.
Howard Stark is always a joy on the series. Even if Dottie had been shooting the gun in the window, I wouldn’t call her a bad shot because the whole point was to distract and not harm. In the key of Dave, why not try to break out the glass in the police car if you’re Howard? Make it a little harder on the bad guys. Smacking Howard around is always good for a set up laugh.
I have to say Hayley Atwell made the Captain America shield look good. It’s a good looking shield anyways, but in that moment it was even better. I definitely loved that shot of Peggy with the shield.
Another great fight scene for the series with Peggy and Dottie. I’m glad Dottie lived; it’d be nice to see her return on the series either facing Peggy again or working with her during a case doing the whole uneasy ally bit. Some great emotional moments for Peggy and Jarvis in this episode. I love the ending with Peggy pouring out Steve’s blood; I can’t fault her, she had too it was the only way to make sure no one could use it in a negative way; yes you can argue the possibilities of the good it might do, but it could also do bad in the wrong hands so pouring it out and diluting the sample was the only thing Peggy could do. Not to mention it helps free them some from the Captain America hold; the show is about Peggy not Steve and Peggy. A well done scene.
I think Thompson tried to give credit to Peggy but it looked like, to me, she gave him a signal saying not to correct the Senator; so he didn’t just rush to take credit like he would have in earlier episodes which shows growth for him. I think Peggy knew as well, even if she had gotten the credit she wouldn’t have gotten Dooley’s chair out of it or anything; she’s seen the value of “working in the shadows” and at Thompson is someone she knows versus someone coming in and her having to go through the same “just the coffee girl” bit even if the boys would stick up for her. Because I think she will go back to the SSR; she’ll end up with S.H.I.E.L.D. of course but I don’t think they need to rush her into just yet. They could do more episodes of her working with the SSR before she goes to S.H.I.E.L.D. and possibly takes some agents with her.
I think Peggy does like validation to a point because we saw her wanting to be the one who brought in the inventions; it seems she wants the respect of her co-workers, rightfully so, but beyond that she doesn’t need the praise. I don’t think Peggy will ever fully be over Steve, but the “Who is the future Mr. Peggy Carter?” is a fun pastime play for fans. You definitely have to wonder how much destroying Howard will do.
A great series.
